Sleepless
Sleepless 2021
Autobiographical documentary shot in Sarajevo.
It is an arrangement between me and the outside, between me and reality, an observation of the outside through a frame, the window and a second frame the camera. I have doubly sublimated the exterior to seek the untraceable, that is to say in this time, a relief from my suffering. Sleepless, time management was impossible for me and I tried to record my life, in Sarajevo, for a moment, from my window. Without going out, frustrated about the outside, I wanted to see, I wanted to communicate. ‘Sleepless’ is indeed the result.
A film structured by a constant waiting time and differentiated by the shots. As if the expectation existed through several angles. The time passing by creates a tension, throughout the film in particular by the repetition of the views on the neighbour’s windows. The atmosphere changes depending on the weather and yet the camera for it rains or shines is always at my window, filming sunny days and bad weather. I love old buildings and it seems to me that you can see time passing by on their facade. The sounds of the street are very important because they allow witnessing of life and its changes.
